One year late, Google as part of its Project 10^100 finally announced its short-list of 100 ideas to save the world for all of us to vote…WOOPS….not 100…actually…Google announced its short-short-list of 16 general themes to save the world that we should vote on. That’s right 16 themes, not even ideas!
Needless to say a whole lot of people are peeved. See comments on my previous posting on Google 10100. On Techcrunch, the folks are grumbling even suggesting that Google has stolen ideas for their own applications. Someone has set-up an unofficial wiki site for project 10 100 so that everyone can upload their own original ideas for the world to see. Is the beginning of the end for Google?
“I don’t know if it’s technically fraud, but if they’re just using those submissions for their own strategic benefit, then they were certainly obtained under false pretenses. And for a company whose motto is ‘Don’t be evil’ that may have crossed the line.”- Artbrock
